I was a big fan of the original best, will the AF best also be the best? What's the best best?

Ah! my old favourite is back in my glass, Let's get into it.

First and Last Impressions

Got the bottle open and poured it, I served it ice cold.

It's a lovely light amber colour. It surprised me how fizzy the pour was without much head. The initial smell was metallic, which I thought strange, with a malty background. I actually smelled the aroma a few times to make sure I wasn't experiencing something odd with my nasal senses, but no it's metallic.

The first taste was also a bit metallic, which mellowed into a slightly sweet malty biscuity flavour with a background of hops bitterness.

Mouthfeel was light to medium in body, very enjoyable.

The aftertaste was mild hop bitterness, slightly oaty and it stayed for a while, it wasn't short-lived. I really liked that.

The metallic taste did go away in the end, as I got further down the glass/bottle, Don't let this put you off. It might just be my glass (dishwasher rinse aid etc)

The Final Score

I was really hoping this would be good, as I loved a pint of Harvey's best in a pub garden in the summer. I wasn't let down, Congratulations Harvey's!

It has a lot of the characteristics I enjoyed in the full-fat version (although it has been a couple of years since I had it) It's a good AF bitter and I will be buying it again.

To sum up : Malty, mildly bitter, well-bodied flavoursome, beer.

well worth your pennies.
